"The Lord's Prayer is 66 words, the Gettysburg Address is 286 words, there are 1,322 words in the Declaration of Independence, but government regulations on the sale of cabbage total 26,911 words."
- National Review, 24 October.
Big brother is indeed watching and listening to you!
Today American, British and most other western citizens, are over regulated, over watched and over spied on with all the minute details of their private lives being placed on more databases than you can shake a stick at.
In a recent AP article "U.S. Gets Access to Worldwide Banking Data," the US government has, in our humble opinion, violated the privacy and rights of tens of millions of non Americans in the sake of Amerika's "war on terrorism."
Your banking details have been and continue to be trawled by America's intrusiveness into your non American banking activities, even if you send wires in a currency other than US dollars and even if you and you're bank are physically outside the united States [correct spelling.]
Treasury Department officials said they used broad subpoenas to collect the financial records from an international system known as Swift. Stuart Levey, Treasury's undersecretary for terrorism and financial intelligence, called the subpoenas "a legal and proper use of our authorities."
PT Shamrock says bullshit.
In other words in addition to the US illegally listening in on your telephone conversations, the US government has also been mining data from all your financial transactions.
Where will this end? The answer is never. Like the "war on drugs," started more than 35 years ago (1971) by then US President Richard "trickie Dick" Nixon, the war on terrorism will also never end. Therefore logically one must assume that all governments will continue to erode your privacy regardless of the legal and privacy implications for you, and with even more draconian measures.
In the UK citizens are spied by CCTV's and other very sophisticated surveillance technology more than 400 times per day. One is tracked by the authorities from the time they wake up in the morning, go to work by auto, tube (subway) bus or train right up until they return home and go to bed. Don't be surprised when Big Brother starts spying on you at home via you're television, just like in the novel 1984 by George Orwell.
With US Patriot Acts I and II, with Patriot Act III on the way, anyone including you, may be viewed as a terrorist. For additional examples of your privacy being intentionally stolen by your Terrocratic government, see our past missives.
Let's face it, you live in a surveillance society and matters are not going to get better. The sooner you confront and accept this fact, the sooner you can get started on a course of action to save what's left of you're privacy.
How to get started
It's a sad state of affairs when governments don't want you to learn about or have access to the type of information, products and services available at PT Shamrock. We call that censorship of ideas. Therefore it may be a smart move on your part never to conduct offshore business or even request information from your home address or email account. Everything these days goes into databases. A decent web based e-mail address is a must. E-mail based web clients like hushmail and or safe-mail are free and recommended.
Also email encryption in today's world is absolutely essential. PGP (pretty good privacy) is the best in our opinion and offers free encrypted email. A freeware version for your Mac or PC can be downloaded at PGPI.org
If you are thinking about setting up an offshore business or 'alter ego' then your very first step should be to get a secure mail drop (offshore postal address with forwarding service) and, if you need to use mobile phones, telephones, faxes, internet and so on get a secure communications set-up as well. The small cost for these privacy precautions is surprisingly low and is time and money well invested.
If you are looking for a personal offshore bank account so you can build up a little nest-egg, these days it pays to go through an intermediary such as PT Shamrock because offshore accounts are becoming exceedingly difficult to open in 2006.
The easiest and possibly least expensive banking option today may be the PTCard™ Program. This is a debit/cash card that offers a respectable monthly load and allows for a healthy daily cash withdrawal.
For more sophisticated accounts of $50,000 and up, you could check our Euro bank account or one of our numerous other bank introductions which takes your fancy from Andorra to Vanuatu.
The safest place for your hard-earned assets may be achieved using an alternative identity. Provided you and only you know that identity, no jealous bureaucrat or greedy ex-spouse will ever find your assets. Court orders, Legal Assistance Treaties etc are all useless if they don't know what name to search for. An alternative identity can provide 100% watertight protection at a fraction of the cost. Remember loose lips sink big ships!
The serious offshore player should check out our Offshore Companies page where we have hand picked the best jurisdictions for privacy and asset protection, carefully avoiding British protectorates where the offshore industry is under threat.
The world of second passports might seem like a place for romantic James Bond or Day of the Jackal types, until you realize that your passport is an ownership document. It and you both belong to your government and can be withdrawn at any time. Second passports in times of need (if the doo doo hits the fan) are very expensive and usually illegal. In contrast, those who see a second passport as an insurance policy and plan ahead can acquire one legally and confidentially for a reasonable price. Our residency/passport page has the full info.
In addition you may already qualify for a free second passport and not even realize it. To see if you may qualify check out "Do you qualify for a Free Passport?"
