Revealed: Countries Demanding Biometrics 2018

"Automated call centers are only the most obvious way speech recognition will be used. The software is now becoming sophisticated enough to identify speakers through 'voiceprints,' akin to fingerprints, eventually reducing the need for personal identification numbers."
- Alex Berenson

Unfortunately biometrics have become a matter of fact and acceptable practice these days whilst traveling. Other than electing not traveling to the countries that mandate biometric fingering upon arrival and exit, one is forced into becoming an unwilling participant in such matters and doesn't have a choice with these most intrusive demands.

Per the article above, "At LAX, Cutting-Edge Tech Is Speeding Up the Boarding Process" and the article below "In Your Face: China's all-seeing state," these biometric requirements present but a few challenges travelers confront today whilst traveling at home and abroad.

Brazil fingerprints US (and only US) citizens in retaliation for the US requiring the fingerprints of Brazilians and all other non US nationals upon entering Amerika!

In Asia the Philippines just joined the ranks of China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Cambodia, Malaysia, Borneo and Brunei requiring full or partial fingerprints upon entering their respective countries. The Philippines started requiring your right hand index finger biometric fingerprint upon entry and exit to this otherwise pleasant country early in 2018.

For a more comprehensive list of countries/airports who take fingerprints and other biometric data do peruse the list HERE. This list is only partial and doesn't include those countries that take biometric photographs of you upon entering and exiting their country.

Multiple other countries in Asia including China (PRC), Central and South America (including Panama and El Salvador) and Africa, including South Africa and amongst other African nations, collect fingerprints and other biometrics from foreign visitors upon entry.

Happy trails!

In Your Face: China's all-seeing state

China has been building what it calls "the world's biggest camera surveillance network". Across the country, 170 million CCTV cameras are already in place and an estimated 400 million new ones will be installed in the next three years.

Many of the cameras are fitted with artificial intelligence, including facial recognition technology. The BBC's John Sudworth has been given rare access to one of the new hi-tech police control rooms. See http://www.bbc.com/news/av/world-asia-china-42248056/in-your-face-china-s-all-seeing-state
