"There is no way to rule innocent men. When there aren't enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things a crime that it becomes impossible to live without breaking the laws."
- Ayn Rand in Atlas Shrugged
May 1st 2004 saw Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia become a part of the new European Union. The newly enlarged EU comprises 450 millions persons, and potentially a powerhouse of economic power.
Whether or not the new EU will take advantage of these opportunities and learn from it's past mistakes remains to be seen. However the potential is there.
The newly enlarged EU is both good news and bad news for privacy seekers. Its bad news because of new banking requirements in those countries meeting "EU" standards. Then there is the certainty of soon to come exchange of information between "all" EU nations.
On the plus side its certainly good news as to the ease of transiting former eastern block countries without the need for visas, etc. Perhaps one of your or your spouses parents or grandparents came from one of the ten new member (EU) countries. If so you may possibly be entitled to EU nationality with one of the new member states. If you think you could qualify, contact your nearest (new member country) consulate and ask for their citizenship via ancestry requirements and paperwork.
The new world order is rapidity taking place in front of our eyes. In the past one would read about the NWO, but now can see it forming before our daily lives. With every new opportunity comes a price to be paid. This price will include a huge wave of financial migrants coming to Western Europe to seek high paying jobs, etc. New and ever more severe and stricter banking regulations are sure to follow as well. Throw in the rush to biometric ID, i.e. passports, drivers licenses, citizen ID cards, all coming soon to your nearest corner pub in the UK, and the lost of privacy will be staggering.
We trust this new enlarged Europe will be wise enough to benefit from America's great achievements, as well as learn from its mistakes, in order to take advantage, in a positive mode, the new opportunities afforded to its new, and existing citizens, all 450 million of them.
